STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT

  • 2023

  • 2024

The five stages of the strategic management process are:

Setting goals

Define and verify your vision:

The main objective of setting goals is to define and verify the vision of your organisation.

This stage will identify:
• Immediate and long term objectives

• Identification of the process to be utilised in ensuring your organisational strategic objectives are met.

• Tailor the process to best integrate with your capabilities and available resources.
As an outcome of this stage we would compose a mission statement which is then used to communicate to all stakeholders.

Analysis

Analysis of information is imperative as it will contribute to the subsequent stages.

The main objective of analysis is to gain an in-depth understanding of the requirements for the organisation as a sustainable entity.

Ensuring that you have the optimum components/initiatives to help drive the organisation to align with its organisational strategic objectives.

Formation of strategy

Firstly we inspect the information gathered analyse further then make an informed decision, on the capability and capacity of the organisation to achieve the defined objectives to make the decision to “make or buy” which may involve outsourcing some of or maybe all of the work.

Use prioritisation models to prioritise requirements taking into consideration constraints that apply, identifying parameters. Once you have completed these stages, then develop a strategy.

Implementation

Once we have formulated a strategy we will then implement, this is the operational stage, to ensure successful completion and delivery whilst aligning to your strategic goals.

This should be completely transparent and unambiguous.

Roles and responsibilities clearly defined and then execution of the plan may begin.

Monitor and Control strategy

Now the work is underway we are required to evaluate performance.

On-going reviews of issues internal and external that may impact our initiatives, taking a proactive approach and using preventative actions, to mitigate against these, using impact analysis to evaluate and implement the correct action and response plan and strategy.

So in essence we are measuring planned vs actual and taking corrective actions to realign as required.

Within any organisation you will find that there is always a change of strategic direction,This is inevitable as external and internal factors will have an impact on your organisation, subsequently the strategic direction.
